Secure Key Exchange - AND Authentication
Like any good VPN, Faction use the Diffie-Hellman key exchange to securely generate and exchange keys when a Network Owner invites devices and/or Members. But this is not sufficient!

Critically, Faction does not trust Cloud Certificate Authorities or Identity & Access Management - which can be and are frequently compromised. Rather, the Network Owner authenticates devices and Members in a direct, out-of-band authentication process.
Yes, Perfect Forward Secrecy
You hear a great deal on VPN sites about Perfect Forward Secrecy. This means that each time you connect to a VPN, you generate a unique set of encryption keys.

Faction uses PFS where it helps - such as each time you start a Web browsing session. This way, even if a future session is compromised, the activity data of your past sessions will remain secure.

While PFS is a important piece of the puzzle, it does not address the most important vulnerability at the heart of all VPNs: you are using THEIR network. Therefore, all of your activities are visible and known inside of that network. Then once you go out onto the Web, things get even worse!
